The Real Score With Anti-aging Creams

Among the many concerns which haunt women is that inevitable wrinkle on the skin, particularly on the face. They may be laugh lines or crows feet, it doesn’t matter. The fact is that these are considered unappealing, and must be wiped out completely if it were only possible to do so. But unfortunately, skin wrinkling is one of the signs of the onset of aging, and unless the latter is resolved, its indications cannot be removed completely. Nonetheless, numerous anti-aging creams flood the cosmetic market, and will undoubtedly continue on pouring forth as long as there are women who are willing to do anything it takes to regain their silky-smooth skin. Most of these products are effective, in the sense that they feed the skin with the essential vitamins, in addition to protecting the skin from foreign elements; this is how far the ‘anti-aging’ process is supposed to go, and not turn back the clock and reverse the normal aging process. You’ll have better benefits from an anti-aging cream if it contains one or most of the following key ingredients:

Collagen, which is a famous lip-enhancing substance, is also a component of anti-aging creams; application on the skin can help bring the moisture back, making it more supple to the touch. This provides a temporary reduction in wrinkles, by swelling up the treatment area, thereby lending it with a softer and smoother appearance. This substance is contained in varying amounts in anti-aging creams; choose those which provide an ample dose, for better benefit.

Retinol is a derivative of vitamin A, and is essential to ensuring proper skin cell growth. Retinol can stimulate the growth of new skin cells, and is effective in minimizing the manifestation of dark spots both on the face and the extremities (this condition is often the result of age and prolonged sun exposure), a condition also called liver spots.

Sunscreen ingredients don’t necessarily reverse the aging process per se, but they can provide unbeatable protection against harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun. Those with higher SPF ratings provide greater protection, and can delay the aging effect of the sun with continued use. It is best to start using sunblock or sunscreen as early as possible, in order to receive optimum benefit from any product which may contain its key ingredients.

Alpha and Beta hydroxyl acids are also a common ingredient of anti-aging creams. The latter is more familiarly known as salicylic acid, and can be found in most treatment medications for acne. The former type includes numerous other varieties, not excluding citric, glycolic, and lactic acid. The combination of these two substances are commonly used in chemical peels, but their benefit in anti-aging creams is to assist in the removal of old or dead skin cells, affording room for the growth of new ones, with the end result of a fairer, more youthful skin. These chemicals are beneficial in sufficient amounts, although few creams employ the required amounts to provide maximum benefit.

It is important to remember that anti-aging creams do not stop the aging process. Different creams also have different compositions, and some may have more of a certain beneficial ingredient than the other. The results of using them are positive to a certain extent, but don’t fall into the illusion that they provide permanent results; on the contrary, they only afford temporary benefits, and not without the initial requirement of continued use.
