Butt Facials For The Derriere-Obsessed
Sure, it may sound like a fad at best, lumped up there along with sideburns, mullets, and 2-inch talons. But, but, but! Butts are here to stay, for better or for worse, and in the case of the fashion and body-conscious, sometimes even dictate a whole lifestyle depending on the state they’re in. Take recent Hollywood trends, for instance. J.Lo, Beyonce, and host of other booty-licious celebs have been parading up and down red carpet events and daringly displaying their derriere in form-fitting haute couture. It’s almost as if the skinny-obsessed eighties never happened, and now butts are becoming as desirable as C-cups in the porn industry!
Spas and clinics advertising the unfortunately-named “butt facial” actually intend to tone, lift, tighten, and wax clients’ posteriors to make them bare-worthy. Basically, most of the treatments one would ask for in a facial would be present in this procedure, such as microdermabrasion and other cleansing and detoxifying techniques aiming to rid the buttocks of cellulite, acne, and perhaps a stretch mark or two. Most of the clients would be those who are likely to also go for Brazilian waxes, so we’re looking at swimsuit models, actresses, and beauty pageant contestants queuing up for a butt facial.
But that’s not to say ordinary Janes (and okay, even Joes in some circumstances) have no right to indulge in this latest salon grooming craze. For one thing, a butt facial also promises to improve the body’s silhouette almost immediately after. So those with money to spare for their “ass”-ets (somewhere in the area of $700 per treatment) should get ready for at least two butt facial sessions—the recommended minimum amount dictated by specialists. Those who’ve tried getting their buns pampered, primped, and polished have sworn by its efficacy. Male athletes, in particular, have raved about a butt facial’s ability to make their hienies almost as smooth as a baby’s, in spite of their over-active sebaceous glands when they are indulging in sports.
Plenty of clients also have high praises for the therapeutic effect a butt facial brings. Akin to a body massage, some say it’s a stress reliever that’s soothing and relaxing enough to make them drift off during the procedure. It is not known whether or not the peaceful state of mind that a butt facial brings about is what primarily makes customers happy with the outcome, but the “bottom” line is, client satisfaction has been on an all-time high.
So if you’re mulling over treating your posterior to a day at the spa, here’s what you can expect when you tell the receptionist you want a butt facial. Apart from the microdermabrasion and other exfoliating techniques, get your ass in gear for around a half hour of microcurrent therapy. This is used with a tool designed to reduce cellulites by using a steady stream of electric currents on your butt cheeks. Afterwards, a mask (very similar to something a specialist would use on your face) that is best for your skin type will be applied to your butt, for even deeper cleansing and a smoother-skinned derriere. And, if you want your butt to have a tan to match the rest of your body’s, some spas even offer a spray-on tanning treatment, to boot!
