Dancing Your Way To Health

Many people don’t exercise often or don’t exercise at all simply because it sounds like a chore to them: boring, repetitive, and tiring. Even for those who are not overweight or have the appearance of a healthy person, exercise is still important in living a healthy lifestyle that makes one not only look good but feel good as well. True, the idea of spending an hour in a gym slaving away in the treadmill or lugging around those weights is not exactly enticing enough to get people exercising, but there are other ways to make more fun and appear less tedious and boring.

Dancing is a fun activity enjoyed by many of different ages because it allows for a person to express themselves and at the same time allow this experience with other people as well. While it is usually viewed by most people as a hobby or something that they can get into for the sake of leisure, dancing is actually a good way to exercise! Anything that can get bodies to move and get those muscles to work is always good form of exercise; hence, dancing is one way to make exercising more fun.

Moreover, various medical studies prove that dancing really does have a lot of health benefits as it is a cardiovascular activity. One research made by the New England Journal of Medicine in 2003 states that dancing at least twice a week can reduce risk of developing dementia as most physical exercises helps keep not just the body but the mind in good shape too. After all, dancing does require a bit of brain exercise—a person sometimes has to memorize certain dance steps or follow routines.

As with other cardiovascular exercises, health benefits of dancing also promotes weight loss, lowers blood pressure and cholesterol, and helps reduce risk of coronary heart problems. In fact, dancing can burn more calories that other cardio activities such as swimming or cycling! Moreover, dancing also helps in building stamina and flexibility, strengthens the body, improves muscle coordination and helps tone the body. It also helps reduce development of common illnesses like colds or flu as the physical activity keeps the body healthy.

Dancing can also impact one’s lifestyle in a positive manner as it can reduce stress, increase one’s energy, and also helps improve one’s posture and balance. All these changes can also make dancers feel more comfortable with themselves. And, as dancing is also a highly interactive activity, this can also help build a person’s confidence and enhance their social skills.

Compared to other types of exercises, dancing seems to be the easiest to do because it sounds more fun and less work—after all, who wouldn’t like the idea of listening to good music and enjoying it with friends while at the same time, burning off unwanted calories and getting fit? It also doesn’t restrict anyone— young children and senior citizens can dance if they wanted to; after all, there are a lot of dances to choose from. There are many reasons why one should get into dancing, so start now!

How Not To Look Like a Prune

We all want wisdom with age, don’t we? It would be great to finally show these young whippersnappers that they don’t have the solution to every problem by being all gung-ho and daring, and that they will eventually turn to us for the real answers. However, we can all do without those pesky crow’s feet, wrinkles, and other additional facial features that scream “senior citizen!” Sigh. If we can only find an eraser to get rid of all these lines that weren’t there in our youth, we’d be devoting a sizable chunk of our daily routine trying to remove evidence of a life well-lived by using friction, I bet. Why On Earth Should I Join a Gym?

Most people do not like going to a gym to work out, opting instead to spin, walk, or lift weights in their home. If you are serious about losing weight, however, you should join a gym, unless you are extremely disciplined and manage to meet your workout goals like clockwork every year.

Why would I want to pay to go use sweaty equipment, you may be asking. Well, there are several good reasons why a gym membership is worth far more than the monthly fee. Starting with the most obvious, it’s a gym, they have far more equipment than the average home gym. Actually learning how to use the equipment in your local gym will allow you to build a much more proportioned body than if you simply grind out 2 miles on your home treadmill everyday. Now onto the less obvious reasons for going a gym. Interestingly, these reasons are often seen as negatives amongst most individuals, and are major factors in preventing them from going back to a gym. Used to your advantage these negatives can lead to drastic weight loss over time.

The biggest downside to gyms in most people’s minds is the other people. Yes, they don’t want to be stared at, don’t want their form to be analyzed by some jerk in a tank top, and really don’t want to be harassed by the opposite sex while trying to work out. Well, attending a gym with the opposite sex present will push most to work out harder and meet their weight loss and muscle building goals. If you know you are going to bump into that attractive guy or girl you saw the other day, you are much more likely to actually initiate a workout. Additionally, if said interest is watching you workout, I am guessing you are going to put in some effort to become a more attractive prospect. Right? I hope you would say yes, and not, Nooooooo, I would run home and never come back. So, while people may turn you off initially, you just have to find the right person to keep you interested in going back to the gym and working out.

The same sex will also push you to work out harder. The gym is analogous to the Serengeti, it’s basically a melting pot of animals attempting to assert their dominance over other creatures. Some people, who wouldn’t have anyone to be competitive with if they worked out at home, will be motivated to work out by seeing people will sculpted bodies that they envy.

Most people, can use this body envy to their advantage. If you know Heather is going to be fit as a fiddle after Christmas and New Years, are you going to stuff your face with every Holiday cookie you can find? Uh, no, probably not. So, you can see how the physical act of going to a gym can heavily influence what you do outside the gym for the better. Additionally, there is much to be said about being forced to converse with other people about what is going on in your life in general. Undoubtedly, someone is going to ask what you do, and maybe you don’t make as much money as you’d like to, and generally hate being asked this question. Well, yes it can be a negative, but if you are serious about making more money you can always tack on , but I am looking at other fields to make more money. And if you don’t look into those other fields there are people who are going to hold you mildly accountable.

While you may view Joe Sixpack or Sara Slim as a major headache, they are really forcing you to improve yourself physically as well as financially. If you’re serious about making more money and losing weight in 2008 you need to join a gym.
