Laser hair removal is a process that uses a powerful light in the roots of your hair that destroys the follicles sac of your hair and prevents the hair from growing back over time. Although the results of a laser hair removal procedure are very successful it will usually take several attempts in order to ensure that the follicles have been destroyed. This is because our hair undergoes a number of different changes throughout the life of the hair before it falls out and the hair follicles are only absorbent during one of the stages of the life cycle.
Laser hair removal is not a new age technology and actually has government approval on the federal level for hair removal. Depending on your skin type and the hair to be removed you should expect to have an average of five or six treatments in order to ensure that the hair has been completely removed.
How The Treatment Works
The treatments themselves are a very quick and painless procedure that usually only take twenty to thirty minutes depending on the size of the area that is being treated. During the operation you will be required to wear safety glasses for your protection as the light from the laser could potential damages your eyes. Due to the heat that is produced during the laser hair removal process your doctor will usually require that you wear a cooling mixture in order to help prevent damage to the surrounding skin tissue.
Side Effects and Risks
There are no serious risks involved with the laser hair removal process but there are several side effects that while rare should be taken into consideration. It is possible when you are undergoing treatment that the skin can swell and become tender due to the exposure to the laser.
