Eye Surgery
Cosmetic eye surgery is becoming a very popular procedure in order to relief people from the stress or the annoyance of having to wear eye glasses or contact lenses. Eye surgery has been clinically proven to correct all different types of eye conditions like nearsightedness, far sight, and even myopia. The two most common types of eye surgery are Lasik eye surgery, and accelerated orthokeratology. While these two different procedures can both correct these various eye problems there are benefits and disadvantages to both of these treatments. Listed below you can review the pros and cons of these two treatments for yourself and make a decision as to which treatment is right for you.
Lasik Eye Surgery
The Lasik eye surgery is a much more invasion technique that the accelerated orthokeratology in which a surgeon will make a slight incision on the eye using a laser in order to remove excess tissue that is causing the eye related problems. The significant disadvantages of Lasik eye surgery over the accelerated orthokeratology is the fact the Lasik eye surgery takes time for the eye to heal after the operation, it is age restricted, and the cut can also lead to infections.
Accelerated Orthokeratology
Accelerated orthokeratology is a uniquely created pair of contact lens that can correct vision problems and remove the need of wearing contact lens and glasses for proper vision. These special contacts mold the shape of the eye into its proper position over the course of several days or weeks in order to correct vision problems. There are no risks involved in using the accelerated orthokeratology contact lenses that you wouldn’t experience using normal contact lenses and this makes this method much safer than the Lasik eye surgery method. The only downfall associated with the accelerated orthokeratology is that it takes a slightly longer period of time for the treatment to take effect than the Lasik eye surgery.
