Thigh Lifts For Thinner, Shapelier Thighs
For women who want thinner, shapelier thighs (those which could need months of leg lifting to achieve), a thigh lift procedure is the next best thing. A thigh lift surgery involves the tightening of loose thigh skin; this is done through the removal of excess skin and fat on certain areas, and then covering up the gap by stretching the remaining skin. The loosening of thigh skin is an inevitable consequence of ageing or dramatic weight loss – a consequence which cannot be reversed by mere exercise; in this sense, the thigh lift is the cosmetic procedure of choice for both men and women.
There are three types of the procedure, depending on the area of your thighs which need improvement. Your doctor will be able to determine the best type that will be most beneficial for your case. An inner thigh lift involves an incision at the skin between the thigh and pubis; skin or fat will be then removed before the area is tightened, resulting in an improved thigh contour and skin elasticity. A bilateral thigh lift tightens the skin on the leg’s outfacing areas. This involves an incision in the general area along your underwear or bikini line; skin is removed, and the gap is filled over by stretching the skin up to the incision area. This results in tighter skin at both sides of each leg. A medial thigh lift focuses on the upper part of your inner thighs; the incision goes across the groin, and follows through to the buttock crease. The same procedure of skin removal and tightening is also performed.
You can benefit the most from a thigh lift if you have lost your skin elasticity on the thigh areas, as well as on your hip and buttocks. For those with skin sags on the mentioned areas, the procedure can significantly improve the thighs’ appearance after the lax skin is lifted. Of course you have to be at a stable weight in order to qualify for the surgery, and you should not have a preexisting condition which can either interfere with the healing process, or increase the failure rate of the procedure.
Following the surgery, your legs will be dressed in a compressed fabric, to minimize the swelling and promote skin tightening. The pain or discomfort which comes with the procedure may be managed by medication, and for more extensive treatments, confinement may be needed to allow for routine pain injection schedules or intravenous tubing. The bruising and swelling which commonly results from the procedure will normalize after about four weeks, but you are advised not to involve yourself in effortful activities within the next six weeks, or until all the symptoms have subsided. Expect scars to fully develop at the incision areas about six months after surgery; however, these are located in places which are easily concealable with most types of clothing. Although the scars can be quite discomfiting, it is an easy trade-off to the new shape which your thighs will have; talk to a certified doctor about the treatments which can be of ideal benefit to you.
