Slimmer, Shapelier Thighs With Thighplasty

Patients who want a more appealing body contour may opt for a combination of several procedures, but in any case, a thighplasty or thigh lift provides the benefit of shapelier and firmer thighs. A thighplasty may be performed as a standalone procedure, or as part of a combination of procedures which may involve liposculpture, a tummy tuck, or a butt lift. Patients who have lost skin flexibility in the thighs, the hip and the butt will benefit the most from thighplasty, as minimized cellulite and skin sags are immediate benefits of tightened thigh skin.

A thighplasty is usually performed as an outpatient procedure, and the patient are afforded with alternative incisions in order to accommodate his or preferences with clothing. If there is excess fat on the thighs, the thigh lift may be preceded with an initial treatment of liposuction. The lift which is performed with the inner thigh areas involves minimal incisions which extend from the front of the groin crease, and runs along to the butt crease. The lift on the side and the back of the thighs may be performed successively or on separate surgery procedures, depending on the patient’s preference. In order to enhance the appearance, the butt may also be lifted through skin incision and tightening on both the upper and lower parts.

The skin which is excised during the procedure is removed through a technique which enables the resulting scars to be well-concealed beneath the groin crease. After the skin removal, the incision is closed in a manner which secures the skin which covers the muscle masses in the groin area; this is done so as to ensure that the scars don’t shift down to your thighs over time. A plastic draining tube is then inserted in each thigh to collect accumulated fluids during the recovery. The entire procedure (administration of anesthesia to the closing of the incisions) may take up to four hours to complete, depending on the extent of the treatment.

The general area of treatment will then be wrapped in a compression garment which is similar to a flexible support girdle; this encourages the normal shrinking of the skin as well as to minimize the inflammation. Patients who have undergone a minor lift will feel a slight discomfort, but this is easily manageable with medication. Those who receive extensive treatment, however, may need to be admitted for a couple of nights at the treatment facility or in a hospital; the condition of the incisions is monitored, and the discomfort is either dealt with injectible pain killers or intravenous catheters. Full recovery may be achieved in about six months, although normal activity is allowed after a month, or until the bruising and inflammation have sufficiently healed.

The procedure may cost for as much as twelve thousand dollars, but the benefits are well worth the cost as long as the lift is performed by a qualified surgeon. A thighplasty does not ensure long-lasting results with an improper diet, however; it is thus important for the patient to maintain normal weight through diet and exercise in order to get the most out of the thigh lift.
