Lip Plumpers For Fuller, Pouting Lips

Women no longer have to envy Hollywood’s pouting celebrities, with lips to die for. If you are unfortunately gifted with lips which aren’t exactly the pillow lips of Angelina Jolie or Kim Basinger, you can at least do something about it, as recent developments in cosmetic technology afford you the latest in a long line of appearance-enhancing methods: the lip plumper.

Lip plumpers are usually cosmetic products which are applied to the lips to make them fuller. This is especially beneficial for women who want to achieve a pouty look for thin lips. Lip plumpers ‘plump’ the lips by irritating the delicately thin skin which covers them, with the use of natural ingredients such as menthol or camphor. Some products can also stimulate an increased production of collagen, as well as add sheen to the lips with their moisturizing properties. The combination of these benefits (and side effects) can make the lips swell somewhat, while also reducing the prominence of fine lines on the area. These effects are temporary though, and continuous application is necessary to maintain the pouting look.

Lip plumping is also possible through cosmetic treatments, where fillers are injected into specific parts of the lip to obtain a longer-lasting pout. The usual substance which is usually administered as such is collagen, a chemical which occurs naturally within the body, and is responsible for lip fullness and hair shine. Hyaluronic acid and restylene are also used for the purpose. Since the procedure is non-invasive, it may be done in a few minutes within a doctor’s clinic. And although you may feel a slight discomfort right after the procedure, this usually passes as your lips accept the filler substance. This alternative affords longer-lasting benefits, and your new, fuller lips will remain that way for up to several months; once your body thoroughly absorbs the injected substance, though, you’ll have to come back for another treatment.

Another type of lip augmentation involves an implantation procedure. A lip implant is inserted into the lips; this is usually made of silicone, and shaped to follow the natural form of your lips. This procedure is invasive, but your recovery period may last no longer than a week before you can go about your normal activities. If you choose to undergo any of these lip-enhancing treatments, make sure that you secure the services of a competent, licensed doctor or cosmetic surgeon. Always put your safety first, and be wary of treatment offers at a bargain – these can mar your lips’ natural look instead of enhance them.

Lip pumps are another implement which can be purchased over the counter. These provide your lips a fuller look by drawing fluid into your lips with a suction mechanism. The pump then relocates the drawn fluid into another, more localized area on your lips. The benefit can last for a few hours after you use the lip pump, but be sure to follow the indications for use in order to achieve the desired benefit. Lip plumpers are effective cosmetic enhancement methods, so long as your personal safety always comes first.
