Dental Implants

The dental implant is a fake tooth root which is used to create a base for artificial dentistry. The most successful type of dental implant that is currently being used is a titanium implant that actually fuses together with the bone to create a secure root on which the dentist can operate. The cost for this type of dental implant is very expensive and can run you from four to six thousand dollars for a single implant. If you needed full reconstruction of the entire mouth the total cost would be somewhere between twenty and fifty thousand dollars.

The Implant
A normal dental implant is attached using a titanium screw that has a naturally rough surface that helps the screw form with the bone better. The rough edge of the screw is inserted into the jaw bone using a pilot hole that has been carefully drilled into the jaw bone. The size of the pilot hole is increased by using a wider drill. This process takes quite an amount of time because the dentist needs to ensure that they dont damage any of the nerves that are located near the jaw bone.

The most common method used for implanting a dental implant is to insert the implant into the location where the original tooth has fallen out. This technique provides an already available space for the dental implant, drastically reduces the chances of damaging nerves, and also reduces healing times while preserving a large portion of bone. Once you have been implanted with a dental implant you can

This procedure is usually undertaken when a person has received a rather severe injury to their mouth where there has been extensive damage done to the interior of the mouth. Another common reason that this procedure is undertaken is to preserve teeth that are at risk due to gum reduction and bone loss that can occur from oral diseases and smoking.
